A washhouse machine

Ozone: finishing denim without water

A denim wash has always meant water. A lot of it. A pair of jeans goes into a machine with water, stone and chemistry, and comes out looking like it has been worn for a decade.

Our new ozone machine does that fading without water.

How it works

Ozone is oxygen with a third atom attached, and it is unstable. Inside a sealed drum, it breaks the indigo down on the surface of the yarn, which is exactly what a stone wash does with water, time and abrasion. When the cycle ends, the ozone reverts to ordinary oxygen.

What it changes for a brand

  • The worn-in look, without a wash cycle behind it.
  • Less water, and less of the chemistry that goes with it.
  • A shorter cycle, so development moves faster.
  • The formula is written down and transferable to your production.

The machine's make and model, the cycle time, and the water saved against a standard wash. Add a photograph of the machine and a before/after of the same jean.
